North Cregg are one of the true legendary acts in Fiddle Fair History. They played here many times as very young musicians back in the halcyon days at McCarthy's Bar during the 90s and early noughties. In fact you could say that they grew up with the festival.

They came together in 1996 from the session scene in Cork City and rose to prominence for their charismatic brand of traditional Irish music blending box, fiddle and banjo along with piano, drums and guitar accompaniment. The band released four critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively taking in all the major folk festivals in Europe and beyond over the years.

Featuring Claire Anne Lynch with beautifully crafted interpretations of contemporary and traditional Irish gems, accordionist and Master of Ceremonies, Christy Leahy alongside the dazzling fiddle playing of Liam Flanagan, groove masters Ciaran Coughlan on swing piano and Martin Leahy on drums and guitar, combing to create one of the hottest rhythm sections in Irish music.

Together, the North Cregg experience is a finely tuned engine packed with humour, spontaneity and great music!
